Crown Lynn swan numbers query.

Just a query to see if any of your members would know why my crown lynn swan, has a crown stamp with the star under, but I can not find a number on it and was unsure as to why it did not have one, are they all normally stamped with one. Its a lovely creamy colour. Thank you for your help.

I think there were gremlins at work at Crown Lynn omitting numbers just for fun to confuse future collectors!!

I am not aware of the white being rarer than the cream but it is always nice to see a perfect white swan - and they do seem to sell well.

I saw your thread in the Collectors Forum and checked out your unusual swan.
Could the numbers be 2065?
Is this a little swan? If so it is extremely unusual in that colour!
I've never seen that dark grey colour before .... only black-black.

If the black glaze that was used was too thin it would fire a similar colour to your swan.

The 2066 is a first!!!
It looks like a navy blue colour in your photo Heather ....?
Though black glaze does have cobalt in it ... the lighting perhaps?
It did look grey in the auction pics.
The turquoise glaze is absolutely magnificent
That is the first yellow swan that I think I've ever seen

I will take a photo of it over the weekend next to one of my black swans..that should show the colour contrast. It seems grey to me - and bearing in mind the 80s were all about pink and grey decor maybe thats where it came from?

Sometimes the numbers on the base can be very difficult to see as the glaze covers them. Try twisting and turning it in different light and you may catch sight of a number.

hi, thanks for replying. have had a close look with a jewellers loupe, but nothing on the base. would there be a mark or stamp anywhere else on the swan?

The number would be stamped on the base.
If you read back on the first page of this topic you will see that HeatherT made a mention about un-numbered swans.
