Saw a very large platter in this design at my local Hospice Shop, took a photo but see the design is in the gallery from Honjon.The one I saw measured 305mm dia.

Ev, attached to the gallery photo is a note saying you have seen this spelt grEy & grAy in museum records as on this back stamp and I see that there is another use of the A spelling today in reference to some mugs.
I was always of the understanding that grEy is the colour & grAy is a surname?? but this may just be another CL quirky mystery.

But I now realise that the backstamp is different to the one on the gallery which is rather hard to read. here is the one on the platter mentioned above. I seem to recall that FORMA pieces often had very little information on the BS.

Thanks Jonno, I have noticed that on all of this pattern it is spelt Gray on the stamp and I think it would have been an office slip up re the spelling of Grey in the records as I haven't found any pieces with that spelling. Thanks for bringing this to light Smile

They may have been looking to the American market with that American spelling.
