This is a start at recording all of the fires that happened at Crown Lynn and what was destroyed.  Urban myth abounds on this subject and I prefer hard facts.  I've seen folk say that there are no Crown Lynn records at all as they were all destroyed in fires, but there are many, so I don't know how they deduced this idea.  If you know of any other events of fires please add them to this topic.

Summer 1980 Ceramics Magazine: From Jack Diamond's collection.

There was one well documented fire at Crown Lynn -
on November 13th per their Ceramic's mag Summer 1980 as well as in the Western Leader.
This damaged plant and machinery and destroyed valuable stocks of transfers. There was damage to the silk screening and printing areas and the store.
Photos showed charred and blackened dinnerware by the truckload...
it looked a real mess all round... but they bounced back in no time!
Mark Cleverly was Chief designer at this time.....

Fire severely damages the finishing department of Crown Lynn potteries, and destroys hundreds of pieces of crockery ... police are investigating.

Ceramics March 1965:
An item asking for old cups to establish a small museum as what was collected was destroyed in a fire a couple of years ago.  This could be referring to the 1961 fire below ...?

Spectacular fire at pottery works destroys between 4 and 6 weeks' crockery production at Crown Lynn Potteries.

Keeping track of the fires that occurred at Crown Lynn. Empty Mid-50s fire, notes from Val

Post  Jeremy Ashford Wed 1 Jun - 16:05

Val got back to me today about my initial fire query:

"I am reading up my Salisbury notes
CL had a big fire in December 1956 - the CL fire was a week after a big fire at Salsibury/RO destroyed their factory."

Thanks Jeremy, I've added it to the list. Can't find any specifics for this one, though it should be somewhere ....
