Re: Colourglaze
Thanks, I will have a read! I have just changed the pic again to fit a bit more in. Still can't come close to fitting it all! I found footage of the CL show I missed on You Tube which is great!

Re: Colourglaze
The photo thing still eludes me. If you want to put my avatar on a thumbnail for the gallery feel free! I can also email the pic if private message works in that way?

Re: Colourglaze
I know! I just emailed someone about that. And such standard colours too! I would be hoping that the pieces inside haven't suffered any breakages, faults etc through being stored, carried around etc because the seller didn't actually open it to check. Eeek!
I just watched six jugs go for nearly $200. That was interesting, they must have been after the pink one. Thankfully I already have that one or I might have thrown a bid at it... but not that much. I was bidding on a crappy horrible stained one for my neighbour - I told her not to but she insisted. Thank goodness her top bid was topped.
Here is the jug one:

No. I had to look that up to see what it was!
I have a 715 in pink and a 6025 (I also have the smaller one of this but it has a hairline).

Pink Production at the Crown Lynn Factory
A lovely trader on trademe, rufus113, just posted this on the message board for me:
"This may be of interest to you as a collector;
Production runs of the pink at C.L. were not our favourite. The glaze was of a special blending & preparation from other colours. It had to be run through magnets & fine sieves numerous times to remove contaminates such as iron & wood.Firings were in special isolated positions on the kiln. Even after all this, the fired ware still had many pieces with clear/white spots in the pink & grading standards took it into account.
I had forgotten the fun the pink colour glaze was :-)"
Cool. I love little snippets like this.
Have any of you seasoned collectors ever come across a print ad featuring any of the pink colourglaze (Capri, Colourglaze, South Pacific, Caribbean Ware) stuff? I saw the link to the New York and Plum, Lime etc add which was cool.

Re: Colourglaze
rufus was once a member on here ..... I miss him and his insights : (
The only other photos of colourglaze that I've seen are at the Museum Library in the Crown Lynn Photographs album.
I don't really collect colourglaze ..... but have only ever found the cups in brown and in white. I do have the fatbum shape in green and one green saucer .... all the other saucers are ..... you guessed it ..... brown and white ... the other colours elude me !!
I only rescue them - that's all

Re: Colourglaze
Any colour is precious. I quite like the brown ones.
I have been lucky, have found a lot in the last 6 months especially. As well as pink, I have plum, dark blue, lime and some lemon. I use it every day so just love it. Built to last for sure. Just makes meals quite fun I reckon. We have a cool two seater formica table with tapered chrome legs attached directly to the bottom of the table (ie no cross bars etc). Never seen another one. It deserves to have cool china on it!
I have pointed a few more people to this forum so here's hoping they check it out.

Alison Reid had her Colour Glaze collection on display at the Crown Lynn Exhibition and I was amazed at all of the different items.
What are the standard Colour Glaze Colours Banker?
Just thought I would throw this photo up in case you's hadn't seen it. Alison Reid's collection.

Re: Colourglaze
Welcome to the Forum Iheartfatbums
Thanks for that link - I have a strong feeling that it is already on the site somewhere .... maybe on the Crown Lynn Exhibition topic ...?
But to read it again was great!! Especially the reference to the glaze numbers ...
18 Basic colours
and that the glazes between numbers 19 - 27 are considered more unusual!!
Can't wait to see which ones they are .... the Patterns Gallery has a few.
Alison had mostly 'fatbum' shaped cups at the Exhibition I noticed .......
Heh I thought that BLACK was the elusive colour and Alison says that it's GREY !!!
I follow Aunty Mavis on Facebook and didn't know that it was Alison

Re: Colourglaze
"For Reid, the ultimate prize in her pursuit of her "Lolly ware" is any piece with a grey finish. "Grey is like gold in the colour-glaze world," she explains. "I just have to trust that it is going to come to me."
Please help : ) What does she mean by "any piece with a grey finish? Is that just that outer glaze she is referring too?

Re: Colourglaze
Yes I think that she means the grey colour glaze colour, a funny way of putting it, but that's what I read it as.
How often do you see grey colour glaze listed on tm?
I can't even remember any
Is it fought over like black colour glaze?

Re: Colourglaze
I haven't ever seen grey myself, in saying that I have only been collecting for going on 2 years now so there is a lot I haven't seen. hehe I'd love to see what she has already with a Grey Colour glaze finish.
