china - Made in China mugs????? Empty Made in China mugs?????

In all the op-shops, amongst the Crown Lynn and other NZ pottery I keep seeing these mugs with a China backstamp. I don't see any similar stamp in Val's bookl. I have not yet checked in the gallery for a shape.

I know the shape is something like the Crown Lynn mugs in the following link but have not been able to compare them directly to see if they are identical.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/antiques-collectables/art-deco-retro/kitchenware/auction-633951788.htm

What first piqued my interest is that a friend who is a big Crown Lynn collector has a few among her collection. Unfortunately she is in hospital, semi-comatose, so I can't ask her.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

If the ones in the listing on tm are the mugs known as "stacking mugs", this is something I am just becoming aware of.

If you are asking do the mugs marked "China" stack, then I will check tomorrow morning at the Hospice shop.

As I am camera-challenged (I think the battery lead is in Auckland), I will take a print off tm and check tomorrow.
(As I did today to compare a Clay Craft mug for sale with some unmarked mugs there!)

As your response is not automatic and emphatic I'm thinking this is something new to you, so they may just be something vaguely similar.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, I picked one up from the Red Cross. I didn't mind spending the dollar because I made a very good (non-pottery) find at the Hospice shop. Anyway, it looks like a copy of the mug in the link but the flutes in the base appear more coarse and the handle less square. I would like to know more about these but it seems that is outside the scope of a New Zealand Pottery form.

Exactly!
If you count the ribs at the bottom the Chinese ones have fewer, amongst other differences.
I like them though. Actually I having a cup of tea out of one right now!
I don't have that colouring though. Looks like green over blue.
I have white over yellow, blue over green, blue over brown, and yellow over brown.
I thought they were ubiquitous but none have come into the local op-shops in the last month or more.
Do you have more?
Do you know anything about them?

I know nothing about them sorry, Jeremy, and I don't have any (not even this one, I took a photo at the re-cycle centre), but if you want some collecting, I am more than happy to snap them up when I see them for up to $1 each if you wish. Just let me know.
