Thanks as that is a new shape to me.  It should fit in with the last TV tray that they made ..... 1983.  The mug on the TV tray 8051 in the gallery looks different again ... gahh

Ev I think my tennis set mug that you have linked to is the same shape as Jan's. They all seem to have those distinctive stripes and were made in quite a range of colours, at least 5 I'd say. From memory, there is this pink, a deep blue green, a fawn, an olive green, and a dark shiny brown. I have more non-matched mugs and plates in one of those dread boxes.

Janice,
I thought this might be a new shape, but I think it looks the same as the pied stilt mug:

Unfortunately none of those last mugs has a date coinciding exactly with the tray:
8051 - Oblong TV Tray 15.11.83

The one on Val's tray in the gallery has one fewer ring (6 vs 5) and it has an upstand so it may be a 3044 stacking.

Hi Jeremy - I know its the same as the pied stilt mug... I was just confirming with Ev that its the same shape as the cup she showed me AKA the pied stilt mug and thought we could track it via the TV tray......
but I now see that there are other stripy mugs with a similar handle from what I can see on the link you & Ev gave me.. maybe a 3050 handle???
I have also seen the 3044 shape with those trays as well.......    so its "back to the drawing board" me thinks  !!!!
I reckon we are all going round in circles  :fishing: for the answers .....
I was working on that again the other day, thought I was making progress then... :thud:
There is something odd around the 3044 and 3068 that does not add up too me??

Mug shape Empty 3034 - 3040 - 3068

Post  Jeremy Ashford Wed 30 Apr - 11:25

3034 - 3040 - 3068

From the descriptions that makes three different shapes (handle variations) of "Fluted Base Coffee Mug".

As long as the 3036 is safe that makes fatherpopdad 3034 but means we should be on the lookout for two more fluted base mugs with different handles, one a 3050 handle and one (the 3040) with a handle we just don't know.

Unless there is a further fluted base body I think 3034 is safe. Those handles simply wouldn't work on Apollo.

BTW I picked up a "3034" yesterday in plain brown, first of seen without transfer of banded glaze. I'll edit that onto my last "show us your ..." post.
