This looks like it could be shape 1640 - Geriatric plate.
It is circular and measures 8 1/2 inch across its diameter. The straight sides are about 1/2 inch tall
If all agree, I can upload it to the shape gallery Cool

Hmmmm that isn't the shape I was thinking of Janice. I have seen a few listed and they look like an oval with a wave in one side which fits up against the person. Thelma said that she has one, so lets hope that she sees this and posts her one if she can find it Smile

Hiya
Happy New Year to all...
After searching through boxes, ( big tidy up as we had guests over Christmas ) I finally found both examples of these. The hospital ware dish has a rim and the Red Thistle has more of a hand finished look to it. Its quite wavey ( if that's a word) - I would say these shapes are similar but different.

I will add your Red Thistle as the 1640 Janice.

The 1640 became the 5016 and there is also a smaller 5017.
These will not be vitrified with those numbers, which I find rather odd.

The Hospital pattern plate similar to the 1640 is vitrified ..... so I'm not sure ..?

Hopefully the Portage Trust can show some price lists that might help us to find those missing shapes?

I've noted about 4 price lists that they have that I haven't seen. Plus they have many posters of shapes that I've never seen either.

Ok this is the right shape Janice.  The Public Hospital one is shape 5017 which is the smaller Geriatric Plate at 192mm.  I don't have a measurement for the larger one yet, but I've done a rough conversion for yours and get 211mm, so it all looks right for the 5016. I still think that it's odd that these are not vitrified, but there you go.
Dated as 7.2.79.  I will add these to the Gallery.

I have got the bigger size 5017 and it measures 220mm across the top. It has the green Crown Lynn crown, one star and Crown Lynn New Zealand back stamp.

My son thought it was a planter pot saucer.
