Hi, I just purchased a dinnerware set (large plates, salad plates, saucers and teacups) from a local vintage and collectables shop in mangawhai. I bought it because I like the pattern and the lady remarked to me as I was purchasing, that it was crown Lynn.
The only thing it has on the bottom is "made in New Zealand" in caps. It looks exactly like the plain cream Apollo from the photos on this site. Just wondering if any other nz maker made a similiar pattern or whether crown Lynn Apollo could have been made with no other marks. Are there specific dimensions to look for?
Thanks - crown Lynn newbie!

Hi Lesliejane99 and welcome to the site Smile

Crown Lynn started making Apollo dinnerware in the late 1960's and the name was derived from the moon landings at the time. The design was extremely popular for many years. Yes they put Made In New Zealand on a lot of the crockery that they made as they have on this example -

There are a few different backstamps for Apollo and you can also find it without any stamps to say who made it. Here is one example ...

As far as I know no other New Zealand pottery company made Apollo, though I have seen similar designs from overseas potteries, but not exactly the same.
