Port/Wine Barrel and Stand is Mapua Ware Nelson

Post  mike67 on Sat 13 Jun - 21:55

This barrel is 260 mm long and 200 mm across at the widest point. It has a drip catcher and 5 smallish cups/vessels. There is a distinctive emblem on the front of the barrel and on the stand. Any ideas as to maker?

Hi Mike, this looks like the Mapua Ware that Waimea Potteries in Nelson made.

Thanks Ev. It is amazing how blind we can be....I have a piece on the bench less than a metre away...same glaze and body. I am sure it is when I see them together.
