Hi, I rescued this from the scrap metal pile yesterday where we were cleaning up. It was completely black  Suspect but I could see the yellow colour on one edge. It has spent the night in several tubs of hot water with Persil and after an attack with a paint scraper then steel wool, then hot water and baking soda, it does have the straw colour of early Ambrico, but no marks on bottom. I thought it was a kitchen bowl until I discovered where the handle used to be! It will be put in my broken pottery garden soon! Smile

Further to above post, the pot is yellower than photos suggest, plus I just had a look at Val Monks blog under Ambrico and it shows a pot almost exactly the same as this one.

Thelma,

I have straw-coloured Ambrico potties in two different sizes.

Judging from the handle, the kid's one is castware. It has a stamp. I posted it, with measurements, here:
https://www.newzealandpottery.net/t5314-small-straw-coloured-ambrico-potty-chamber-pot#19956

The standard size one appears to be jiggered as it has a stick-on handle. It has no stamp but I'm pretty sure I've checked it against Val's marked one and found it to be the same shape. I don't think I have posted it but note that the shape is different from the kid's one, as I described in that post. Mine measures just short of 23 centimetres diamater across the top.

From your photos I believe your potty is Ambrico.

Nice cleaning job.

And yes, they could be kitchen bowls couldn't they!
