Glendale Gray [sic] D859

This is not the way you expect to find the pattern name and number written on a mug. I found this at the secondhand shop at the top of Chinamans Hill.

Perhaps a piece from Crown Lynn that Richard Quinn missed?
Glendale Gray D859 and Midnight Black D86100 Gray10

Grey 3802 mug (stoneware 3050) with comments in red marker on body and grey pen (?) on sticker on base. The comments are no easier to see on the mug itself than in the photos.

In red, I can make out:
GLEND...
...859
CAFE LOWS
MIDNIGHT BL...
D. 86100

The rest is a bit tricky but i think it gives us Black rather than Blue to go with midnight. The sticker is clear enough:
GLENDALE GRAY [sic] D859

I am assuming that the colour of the cup is Glendale Gray, or Grey.
And then maybe that it is matched with a saucer in Midnight Black.

Perhaps this should go to the Portage Museum with the warning that it has been out and about. No good to me as it is and I'm not going to wash it.

In the Database there is:
Glendale 182 [we have this]
Glendale 397 [we have this]
Glendale Green 399
Glendale Green Mocha Coffee Set 85900

The Mocha Coffee Sets usually had 4 x 3050 Mugs and 4 x Matching Saucers

Here are the ones at the Portage Museum and I would like you to take a look and see if anything jumps out at you Jeremy.

There is no record of the Midnight Black maybe Blue on the Database.

First, let me make it clear that this is not something I have mocked up and I can't see anyone else wasting their time doing such a thing so I think it is real. Doesn't necessarily mean it went into production though.

The colour may be a match for the patterned mugs you linked me to Ev. The colour on my base photo is best representation. I compared the weight and sound of the mug with a 3050 and found that this was heavier and rang with a higher note so assumed it was stoneware. Could be e/w but.

Questions:
Is the base colour for the (grey) mugs you directed me to identified anywhere?

If the names and numbers are not in the database, then what about surrounding numbers, 858, 860, 862?

Like so many things I find this is a bit of a tease, but certainly not a deliberate one on my part. I will have to check the writing on the sticker to see how it compares with others at Portage. Beyond that there is nothing I can do. I think the important thing is that it's coming back into the system. No need to sweat it after that.
.
Bit later
Okay, I've checked the other numbers. Beyond knowing that they exist they don't help me out. Pat no 859 is Lyric But I don't think we have 861 on record here.

I missed that 85900 is Glendale GREEN. Maybe there is a typo in the system somewhere. Anyway 859 or 85900 is part right.
