"Bryan" 1963-68 slip-decorated mugs
Five slip-decorated mugs by "Bryan".
7cm H, flat glazed bottom marked Bryan July 65
10.5cm H, footring, unglazed base, marked Bryan 1963
There were five of these at Hospice, all different sizes with variations on the same decoration and dates from 1963 to 1968.
I chose the shortest and the tallest. Also I think the best decoration inside. These two have incised marks; others had marks in black.

Re: "Bryan" 1963-68 slip-decorated mugs
These look like they have been slip cast Jeremy. Would that be correct?
Re: "Bryan" 1963-68 slip-decorated mugs
Five mugs, various years, five different sizes.
And there is every indication that they are hand-thrown, Ev.
Although the handle fixing points are very tidy, suggesting slipcasting,
There is ...
No hollowing on the inside at handle connection.
Thickening at junction of base and sides.
Turning finger marks visible on the inside, through the decorative slip.
They are quite heavy, in part from the base/side junction.
I put these in "Is this New Zealand ..." because I could find no local reference to "Bryan" but my expectation was that someone using this slip decoration here in the 1960s would be known.
