ginger - Ev's Ginger Jar..... Empty Re: Ev's Ginger Jar.....

Post  Ev Wed 31 Dec - 12:26

Having been 'fired up' by the 4 page Crown Lynn article in the Herald from July 18th 1959 -
I have been reading Gail Henry....
and there I found that the first clays used by Crown Lynn were 'straw coloured'.
The American armed forces ware was described as a 'putty colour'.
It wasn't until 1948 that a new white body was used that fired white.
So now in my humble opinion I would say that the ginger jars were made between 1940 and 1948 .... as the yellow tint in the clay was the first thing that I noticed.
And it was for this reason that I discounted them to be of Crown Lynn origin ....
so there you go.... living and learning and loving it Very Happy
