Hi Ev and moderators.

I think we should have another go at a Peter Lowrie gallery.  I am confident that the green ware that we see so much of is his.  He has confirmed this by phone. Likewise the Steenstra carved pieces are his. I am not so confident about diffferentiating between Beach brown and Lowrie brown so we might have to leave those in the "don't know' file for a while. The pieces marked with a single P on the base can be confidently marked as from Peter Lowrie's workshop, but I am not sure who actually made them.

EDITS - I have just re-read my notes from a conversation with Peter Lowrie. If a jar has the words on it in raised letters, (eg "TEA") it is Lowrie. If the letters are scratched or impressed into the clay, it is most likely Beach.

Ev's recent post Merrels tankard is Lowrie or I will eat my hat.
I will make a start by editing to add Yes on my posts that I am happy are Lowrie.
Then hopefully one of you can pop them in a new gallery in a 'spare' moment.

I am now inspired to write a blog post about Peter Lowrie. I will provide a link when it is published.

I have made a Peter Lowrie Gallery and will get back to putting in pics another day.
Do you have a time frame for this pottery Val?
I thought the 1979 on the Merrells tankard was great for the when ....
There are posts all through the Beach category that will have to be sifted out.
Anyone know why I happened to buy a Beach Tea and Coffee today in the uranium glaze?  I just asked to look at them and next thing they were wrapped and bagged Neutral

Peter Lowrie's business ran from 1977 to 1987.  (He had previously been working at Beach Artware, and 1977 is the year Peter Beach died)  Peter Lowrie worked on his own for about a year then recruited Daniel Steenstra who did almost all the throwing from then on while Peter did the glazing, kiln loading etc.  So in 1979 when your tankard was made, the business would have been up and running for sure.

Re sifting out the posts, probably Kat and I need to spend a day on that, between us (and with her being admin) hopefully we can tidy things up.  We will talk to you about how to go about it before we launch into it.

And yeehah re your new orange ware. I seldom see it around any more.

We have made a lot of progress with the Peter Lowrie Gallery today and there is a trend showing. There are still some golden glazed maybes mixed in with the Beach posts though and we will look at those again later.
