Pottery marks : Crab & Toilet pan William Coppell
Last weekend I met an elderly gentleman who told me he used to pot in Gisborne. I thought I would share his work, in case his unusual marks ever came up. He is William (Bill) Coppell. His first mark for this ginger jar is a crab
The next one is a little different
He used a different mark for this jar, which he came up with using his initals
WC !

It looks like he was a very good potter. His work is interesting.
