who made this ashet for Laidlaw Leeds?
I just threw away $10 on this battered old plate on the strength of a backstamp.
I'm not totally sure but I think it reads:
Laidlaw Leeds
Merchants
Auckland.
large scalloped serving dish, ashet, marked "Laidlaw Leeds"
413mm L x 300 W x 45 H
backstamp at 4.30 o'clock
The mail order company Laidlaw Leeds was founded by Robert Laidlaw in 1909 and merged with The Farmers Union Trading Company in 1918 to become Farmers Trading Company.
So, I'm not sure whether this is local product or imported, but will surely date from somewhere between 1909 and 1918.
