Salisbury wire handle vase
Early Salisbury vase. As seen (I think) in 2nd B&W photo on shelf next to shell. It appears to be the smaller of the two. I wonder if it was given a number?

Re: Salisbury wire handle vase
Yes definitely the same as the ones in the catalogue photo.
I will add your photo to the Salisbury Ware Gallery.
No idea which pottery made these at this stage.
Can you compare the clay to some known pieces from the 1940's if possible please?

The paint work has survived remarkably well and there are just a couple of tiny patches to view the clay. Whoever hand potted this was very skilled. It is so uniform and exact. The clay is an ivory colour so rather more pale than the Ambrico straw. I suspect Rancich or possible Silva.

Well done and I can see the throwing rings on the inside in the second photo.
I would never have considered the Rancich Pottery and will add it to the Gallery photo
