Is this Gibpat Crown Lynn?
I have two plates with these backstamps, but they say Australia. Was this before CL bought Gibpat?

Re: Is this Gibpat Crown Lynn?
The publication 'Ceramco Limited - A History 1929 -1979' has this information:
Gibsons & Paterson (NZ) Ltd was established in 1909 and based in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Ceramco acquired the company in 1968. The Sydney based Gibsons & Paterson Pty Ltd was established in 1913 and also acquired by Ceramco in 1968. Brisbane based Gibsons & Paterson (Qld) Pty Ltd was also established in 1913 and Gibsons & Paterson (Vic) Pty Ltd a Melbourne outlet was established in 1968.
Ceramco bought the lot in 1968 and presumably carried on whatever operations the Aussie ones were running. John Gibson was a grocer from Britain who opened his first store at Patea. His sons relocated to Wanganui in the early 1900s. One of their salesmen was Leonard Paterson. Gibsons and Paterson was formed in 1909 and relocated to Wellington in 1921. This section of the booklet says that Australian operations began in Sydney early in the 1920s. I don't know why the dates differ?

re Is this Gibpat Crown Lynn?
Thanks to Tony K's excellent history in this thread I noticed 3 small plates in a recycle shop today and was able to take the attached photos. The dishes are approx 90mm dia and are classic 2 red line hotel ware. Someone may be able to suggest a date of manufacture.

Re: Is this Gibpat Crown Lynn?
I popped it here as the 1st post was" made in australia " and thought that as time goes on.... we might look for shapes and comparasions etc.
Rather than dismiss it all together.
.
I didn't change the title, that asked is this CL ...meaning i wasn't asking if it was CL lol I just thought it was worth logging the mug somewhere.
Does that make sense? Janice
