Small Jug & Bowl for Titian Gallery
My lovely wife bought these two pieces for me yesterday, I am rapt, I think they are just delightful. Jug 150H x100mm Bowl 140mmdia. X 52
The Bowl is marked as 1293 but there is already another item with this number on the gallery, a storage jar with a cork?.
The Jug is marked 6052 and I have a second sample (without the stopper) also marked 6052. Note that the 6 in both cases is in reverse. On the gallery there is a sample shown with the same rose design as on my second sample but it is noted as 6042 ??
Here are the photos sorry about the quality for the numbers but the glaze has taken over.

Re: Small Jug & Bowl for Titian Gallery
Thanks Jonno.
The bowl number is actually 1283 and the 6042 in the Gallery was submitted by yourself
I will change that number to 6052 no problem. These two pieces were sold as a set it appears - so I will use your photo for the bowl shape.

Re: Small Jug & Bowl for Titian Gallery
No worries Jonno, as glaze fills the numbers more often than not and make it impossible to make out what they are.
Background/History
Hi Ev and Jonno.
These Bath Oil/Powder Bowl sets are one of my CL addictions and I wondered if you had any more knowledge of their history/story?? Id love to know more about them.
Thank you

Re: Small Jug & Bowl for Titian Gallery
Hi there, this link to the Four Digit Gallery shows when the bowl and the stopper were first made
https://www.newzealandpottery.net/gallery/Crown-Lynn-Shapes-Catalogue-with-Four-Digits/Castware-Earthenware-1000-1599/1282-Cork-Top-to-6052-1283-Powder-Bowl-15978-pic_3700.htm
The jug is in the Jugs Gallery:

Hope that helps.

Re: Small Jug & Bowl for Titian Gallery
Crown Lynn supplied 'customers' and salesmen would travel the country getting orders. Some customers just got wares marked Crown Lynn e.g. Milne & Choyce and others got Genuine Ironstone. It was rather complicated as McKenzies couldn't get what Woolworths got. McKenzies had their own Roydon brand and no other outlet carried that ware, only McKenzies.
I haven't seen any sales dockets from the 1970's, only the 1980's and haven't come across these sets so far. Adverts in the main papers from that time would be the best chance of finding what you want to know, as places like Farmers had a huge advertising budget, as did other outlets like Briscoes etc.
