Titian supplied Paramount Trading Co and I wonder if the P stands for this company?

Oooooh, now I have just has a kooky idea ~ Does the NB stand for No Base ? I notice that the bnb in the gallery is flat on the bottom (bowl no base) as is the tnb (trough no base). Just a thought, sometimes I have these notions and they seem a little crazy :whistles:

Laughing I'm fairly sure that the last letter in each of those stand for bowl ...
base no bowl just doesn't sound right .... or trough no bowl :O2laugh:
I have seen some of the letters interpreted and they always were the initials of retailers. Unfortunely I never recorded any of them, but there are people out there that know what they stand for....... just hope that they come by one day .....

Thanks so much signal red as that certainly confirms that B stands for bowl and V stands for vase. I will add J for jug to the list now. Old catalogues are priceless for finding info cheers

Hi Eve,
A few possibilites

F could be figurine (marlin F104 flying ducks F101)
PM paramount mug
BNB the first letter could stand for bowl and the NB the retailer or none branded.
TNB trough NB
VNB Vase NB
UNB urn NB

All very cryptic!

I go along with F standing for figurine sid, as that is logical.
Do you have some of those pieces?
Would really like the ones in the Titian Gallery to have the correct identification.
Also you could be right about PM as this is stamped on a mug that hon-john sent in.
Edits: Just found the mug and it has a Presley Ware sticker on it!!!!
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t1957-presley-ware-pm100-mug-courtesy-of-hon-john
Now I wonder if P could also stand for Presley ..... !
I don't go along with the NB standing for No Brand though, as B for Bowl would be used ...... wouldn't it?

Thanks signal red Smile
I will add Wall Vase and it was mumof1 who suggested that could be the code.

Have you checked out the number codes on the titianpottery website?
Very confusing to me and every time I go back to try to understand it I get distracted by all of the beautiful pottery and still haven't got my head around it!!

Hi Eve
Lots of unknowns on these codes and a number of possibilites.

With the NB codes I think it is the first letter that relates to the object
The NB is the constant and is the name of the retailer.
So BNB is a bowl. The first B being for bowl.
TNB is a trough vase retailed by NB as with the TNB300 trough vase in the gallery.
I also have a UNB300 which could be classified as an Urn.
Hope this makes sence.
Would be great to find some adverts from the 60'S to see which retailers were selling
which Titian products.

As I'm not sure about any of those letters, I await more posts on the titianpottery blog Wink Nathans for N maybe? Just guessing though Razz I know if they called a vase a bowl they were exempt from the taxes at the time..... as bowls were deemed necessary. I can't find any reasons for placing the B for bowl at the beginning for some, then at the end for others ... just doesn't make sense .....
Perhaps U for Urn as that sounds good to me Smile I will add U to the list.

I commented on the titianpottery blog about how confusing the numbering system is and the exciting response was to ask if I would be interested in seeing a letter from Cameron Brown regarding the lettering and numbering system and the names of the retailers that they supplied, which would be posted onto the blog! cheers

The letter from Cameron Brown Senior has been posted!!!
http://titianpottery.blogspot.co.nz/2012_06_01_archive.html

The list of Wholesalers and the brand names used is priceless information!
It appears that your thoughts are correct Sid ..... Well Done!
Just need to digest it all now.......

Does anyone have a Titian woodgrain vase, as I am entranced by them and would love to put one up as the site photo in honour of Titian's unique creativity.
