Aquila Vase Ltitia23

An Aquila vase in orange/red with applied polished gold. Made by the Browns at Takanini in the 1970s. It has AQUILA and MADE IN NEW ZEALAND under the base. The vase is 200mm high.

this may be a hobbie ceramic piece looks  like a hobbie  glaze from the 80s you may find the glaze in mayco google hobbie ceramics. They used their own shapes as hobbie ceramics, the moulds would still have  their name underneath

If it was made in a Hobby Ceramics class it would have the name or initials of the person who glazed the piece, so that the person could identify their work.  Sometimes they put the date as well.

yes i agree with you and often the foot was glazed and fired on a pin, never figured out why they did this as it would have been an extra cost maybe to many glaze coats  by client on ware would sometimes run in firing  even bigger cost.

The base is not easy to photograph. It has NEW ZEALAND round the rim with AQUILA underneath that.
