A Mark Cleverley Luke Adams coffee set was listed today on trademe at

It was not noted as such so I bid to stop anyone slipping in a buy now.
Cleverley fans go for it.

You could suggest they remove your bid so they can edit the title Smile

Cat-a-lat,
I considered that but am not sure of the consequences. I have never requested a bid be removed and note in the trademe help Q&A that such activities are monitored.

I've done what I can to make an auction of the for the seller. I've advised them of this thread and suggested they use the appropriate keywords on a new listing to redirect people to the auction.

Also, I wouldn't mind buying it.

TradeMe would have no problem removing a bid with buyer's consent, and you could bid again - but as you say, if you are interested in purchasing at an affordable price, then perhaps it is not in your best interests! You did well to prevent a less principled trader from taking advantage of the seller's ignorance of the set's worth.

Post  Jeremy Ashford Thu 15 Aug - 14:55

Still awaiting a reply from the seller.

(update)
Packed and paid for.

(update)
Arrived safely. Very well packed. Less blue than in the photo, in the light in my house.
Kind of slate coloured with some blue. Pics when I find the USB lead.

Was just looking at sellers other listings (nice Tony Sly duo) and spotted this interesting platter: http://www.trademe.co.nz/home-living/home-d%C3%A9cor/plates-bowls/plates/auction-626124007.htm

anyone recognise the style?

Ev, mrnarna,

Up until now there were no search results for Mark Cleverley in the forum,
even though many of his lines appear here.

I'd love to see some pictures of the coffee set, especially mrnarna's brown-glazed version.

Hand-painted Cook & Serve and Fleurette, which form a big part of my own Crown Lynn collection,
are effectively identical.
This is my first ever Crown Lynn item that has not been mass-produced to that extent.
Sure, it's not studio pottery, but each set is surely unique.

Also..
I found the Cleverley set after looking at some CL cups by the same seller. Now sold.
Can anyone tell me about them? (shape, glaze etc). They are, as the seller says, "FuNkY".

Cups - A MARK CLEVERLEY COFFEE SET on trademe Empty Crazy Blue Coffee cups

Post  Jeremy Ashford Fri 16 Aug - 12:51

I thought they were amazing and saved them straight away.
I thought she might have something else of interest, and found the Cleverley.
Frankly, I think I have more than enough cups, so it would have been greedy, and silly.
What's with that crazy droop in the glaze!

I saw some ramekins on tm just recently with the same glaze. The blue is what we call double dipped over the base glaze and it's the reaction between the two glazes that make the drama happen. Actually val gave me two of those mugs.. I wouldn't like to guess how many cups I have.

Uh I don't know what happened to the other soup bowl that was in this post post, but I went hunting in my collection and found 3 more but these are a different shape and the lines are horizontal. Thick thick glaze the base is completey unreadable. Now I will go and look for the shape.

It might be the 1063 Eared Soup Bowl - first made in 1969 at Luke Adams.
