This tradme ad for two mugs with "Catlins" on them likely places them near the border of Southland and Otago.

Re: Does anyone know who LS is please? LS is Lisa Simpson
This listing on Trade Me has been making me scratch my head and when adding a mark to the potter's Marks Gallery I noticed the SL mark.

A few days ago I asked what the shape was, but no response yet. The SL mark is the same as this one. It is rather baffling ..... I'm not happy with the Carpay reference that they added in the questions

Re: Does anyone know who LS is please? LS is Lisa Simpson
Looks like one of those unglazed pieces that Catherine Anselmi decorated and added her stamp to, and yes, that comment is very misleading to potential buyers, especially those who are not as informed as we are. Perhaps we should add a question stating that the mark is by a current potter, and do they know who they are and where they would have acquired the blank from, at least it would cast some doubt for watchers.

Re: Does anyone know who LS is please? LS is Lisa Simpson
I doubt that they would answer any questions, as my innocent one is still not answered.
I really don't like traders who try to mislead people with just the intent of a sale.

You could report the trader directly to TM as they are using too many key word's In the listing and mention the misleading comments too.
I think the SL is a south island potter. No evidence to support that though lol

Sue 01 vs SL NZ
I have been meaning to post a montage of Jan's mug and my "Sue" mug but have been diverted, you will need to go to the topic.

I guess this sort of decoration with bold primaries and black rim is common enough but I thought I should mention it as I am still looking for a maker for my mug marked "Sue 01". Not a big jump from Sue to SL. The blue appears to be a colour match too.
I searched for the "Catlins" mugs I mentioned in an earlier reply to look for further similarities but unfortunately the auction has gone and I didn't keep a copy of the images.
The shapes are quite different but they do at least have the same rim which Marcus has told me can be an important indicator of maker.

Re: Does anyone know who LS is please? LS is Lisa Simpson
Susan Firth was the decorator Kat and this mark has no panache to it like Susan's signature.
Trader has answered my first question to say it's a small bowl.
If I could tell what shape it is I could challenge the Carpay suggestion.

Good job to everyone, as the seller has now answered the questions and the picture is now clearer - or not - regarding the origin of the decoration on the dish.

Re: Does anyone know who LS is please? LS is Lisa Simpson
I'm very pleased that the trader responded to all of the questions, however I am none the wiser as to what the shape is and who decorated it.
Re: Does anyone know who LS is please? LS is Lisa Simpson
It looks like Sally Lewis is a potter from England going by that sticker, bednarluck.
Re: Does anyone know who LS is please? LS is Lisa Simpson
The Sally Lewis signature doesn't look the same as the others posted, and the clay and finish also looks different to me.

I agree, the same initials, but in my opinion its definitely 2 different potters.
