Clay Craft or Kiln Craft Spherical Corked Canisters

I do not specify whether Clay Craft or Kiln Craft as they are unmarked.
Not a mark buried in the glaze as is often found, but NO MARK AT ALL.

Fortunately they both came with corks but I removed them to photograph.

Sorry about the lighting but we don't have curtains in the dining room,
and every wall has windows. (Work that one out!)

H about 145mm, OD at widest about the same, OD at opening 104mm,
ID at opening 85mm, OD at base 83mm

I base my attribution to Clay Craft primarily on the glaze,
which is a good match for my marked teapot shown above.
They have a Clay Craft "feel" to them too.

I have seen a few pieces here and there that have the Clay Craft look and feel,
so from now I'll be a bit more relaxed about unmarked pieces.

I'm going to change from using a CL Country Fair teapot to the Clay Craft now,
and use the canisters for teabags, one black tea, one red zinger.

With the aid of a google image search I was able to find a June trademe listing for a similar item, albeit with different glaze, advertised as a "CLAY CRAFT SALT POT MADE IN NZ":

The "SALT POT" has a larger aperture and no cork.

How they were able to identify it I do not know. My canisters have foot rings so a mark is expected. I have checked the respective glazes (as I have the other glaze on a cookie jar) and note that the glaze on my canister is thicker than that on the SALT POT, perhaps enough to obscure a mark.

I picked this up a couple of months ago - also unmarked but I agree Jeremy, the glaze looks very like Clay Craft to me.

Maryr, is yours the same size? (140mm OD)
Mine would be small for a biscuit jar at less than six inches on the outside,
but you are right. They were made as biscuit jars in a variety of sizes.
(I have been speaking to a former Clay Craft employee.)

A bit tricky to measure but approx. 14 cm from base to tallest point (on the lip)
I reckon its a small biscuit container or a big salt container - either/or!

Hi, I have a coffee pot identical in shape to the octagonal teapot above, I did not know what it was but found a sugar bowl, same shape and colour with Kiln Craft on the bottom, so concluded that coffee pot is Kiln Craft as well. If you look at the base of it in the right light, scrunch up your eyes and put your tongue in the right place, you can make out a faint impression of a mark on the base. Oh and the pot and sugar bowl are pale blue edged with brown,

I have seen a picture on google of what you have described.
It was for sale on trademe in March last year, listing 453484221,
described as "Claycraft Tea/Coffee Pot" "9 Inches tall, great for coffee or tea."
It had the same glaze as my teapot. The google index photo did not lead to a bigger one, but it appeared to me that the pot was simply elongated.

I think the "pale blue edged with brown" on yours may be a variation on the glaze of Maryr's biscuit jar, my cups and saucers, mug, and large octagonal biscuit barrel all shown on the forum. Rainbow's Relics in Clyde Street Whangarei have a similar octagonal barrel to mine, next size down maybe,  in the more muted glaze.
I have been told it was Clay Craft's own glaze recipe. I think the outcome was probably a bit unpredictable.

Jim has the octagonal lidded sugar bowl and milk jug in blue/brown.

I will take some pictures as soon as I am able. My sugar bowl does not have a lid.
