I picked up a 1613 invalids cup today and it is the same clay and colour as the piece above...
Heather's notes say that the 1613's were made in 1964 ....
and the powerpole insulators were made in the 1960's -
so maybe it is the latter?

This is the shape 3611 and is recorded as an Insulator cup same as the 700.

I recently downed a line on the farm (my father-in-law was a huge ham radio fanatic) and there are ceramic insulator bits on it...I've yet to claim them but as soon as I get the opportunity, I'll take a photo. It's not a cup but a piece that the wire can be threaded through/around for stability...
I think they are Crown Lynn...haven't been able to get them off the post yet...

Quelle surprise!
Thanks Ev,
This identifies yet another mystery object from my Dad's estate.
He had imagined it to be an early Railways cup.
I took him seriously because he worked on the Waikino Railway AND used to be a second-hand dealer!
I turned up here looking for small insulators as I have erected a "power pole" in my day room and use electric fence insulators to carry the lighting cables around the room. I have just upgraded from 20mm to 30mm insulators and would like to go bigger but 50mm is my limit, as any bigger would not be fitting to a domestic scale.
