A pretty blue ring holder by Vaughan
I thought that once I took a photo of the words on the base, I would be able to enlarge it to see what they read, but I can't decipher the words. Please help ....

A shame that someone scrawled over the words and I thought I had seen a mark with a row of pots on it like this, but it isn't the Killick's mark !!!

loks like Vaughan and 99, second name starts with a T I think and looks like NZ after that. Try doing a pencil rubbing of the mark, it will remove the visual distraction of that dark squiggle
I read the mark underneath as a fern leaf

Definitely Vaughan 99 not sure of the next word, but I reckon there is NZ after it.
Pencil rubbing didn't work, but I thought of applying something to highlight what is there.

The other thing I've tried is to use a bit of blue-tac (or similar) to take an impression of a mark (which will be in reverse) then ink it and see if I can decipher the resulting stamp

I googled 'vaughan pottery nz' but the only two Vaughans I could find were Vaughan Norman and Vaughan Tessier-varlet, and the second name on your ring holder doesn't look like either of those

Vaughan Barr Nz perhaps, maybe?
I give up now as that name doesn't get any hits on Google.

Saw a gorgeous serving dish by this potter today in a fabulous blue design.
Silly me I never took a photo of the dish, as I was only interested in the mark.
You were right makut as the mark includes the word Tirau.
Vaughan is easy to read.
What is the next word .... Potters Bend ??
Google only came up with Vaughan Norman who pots in Hamilton......?
They never replied to my email, so we have to work this out ourselves.
It has the same dog bone shape over the mark, plus that lovely fern frond.
This is Vaughan's website, but it didn't help me http://www.vnceramics.co.nz/
I had a great day at the oppies today ..... they don't happen that often any more and I'm still like a pig in mud when I go through them

The 99 will stand for the year 1999.
