Isis Decora for gallery
I found this set of sporting plates in an opshop north of Auckland. Left them behind cos they were overpriced and had great big blobby hangers stuck over the marks. Then I found a single plate where you could see the mark so I got it. If you google "Isis Decora" you get a bit of info - Te Papa says 1981 - 2006.
Links below tell us that the company belonged to Adrienne Morris: "With her husband, Geoff, she ran a small business, Isis Decora Designs Ltd, in England for some 24 years, producing bespoke china and porcelain, achieving a high reputation for excellent quality and service. The majority of their work was done for some of the top companies in Britain and Europe as well as organisations such as English Heritage, The National Trust and various cathedrals and castles in the United Kingdom. Adrienne worked in all areas of the company - screen-printing, production and accounts, as well as designing the advertising material, leaflets and websites.. Sadly, Geoff passed away unexpectedly in 2004, but Adrienne kept the business going successfully until 2006, when she had a recurrence of cancer from ten years previous, so she decided to close the company and return to New Zealand."

Re: Isis Decora for gallery
They really did make some interesting things and there is also an Isis Decora backstamp which shows up on Google ...

I like the bird in the backstamp and it has nothing to do with war mongers!
Re: Isis Decora for gallery
Goodness I found some top quality Commonwealth Games crockery today by Isis.
It tickles me that there is a different sport on each piece.
Weightlifting on the cup,
Shooting on the saucer,
Cycling on the side plate.
Perhaps there are more sports on other ware ....?
There was also a commemorative little Commonwealth Games dish so I got that as well.

Sorry about the blurries.

The other mug shown, or one just like it, made it to the fill-a-bag last week so I got it for 50c. (Still had $8 sticker on too.)
