A mug by a master: who made me? Len Castle
Although it is unmarked I do know the maker of this beautiful mug. It is great to look at, to hold, to feel (silky smooth), all of which added to the enjoyment of my after-dinner coffee yesterday.

Who dares state the obvious?

It's been a couple of days and no nibbles.
Last chance.
Answer tomorrow.
The only clue I can think of is already in the title.

My first thought was van der Putten, but my second thought was that it wasn't him ..

Looks suspiciously like a Len Castle. My breaky bowl is in the same glaze.

Len Castle did cross my mind, but I haven't seen that shape by him before.

Yes and yes.
I saw a pair of Len Castle mugs in a grey ash glaze in the catalogue for Art+Object's September auction last year but forgot to put in a bid, only to see later that they sold for just $10 the pair.

This one which Marcus got from Len Castle is a shape match but the glaze looks different. It was Marcus who suggested I offer it for a guess who made me.
I am still a long way from being able to recognise a potter's work but knowing it was by Len Castle I was able to relocate the comparable pieces.
A search for "master" on this site produces just two names: Cleverley and Castle.
