This auction for Air New Zealand DC8 wares shows what appears to be a 3610 tall hotel cup with the Air NZ Tahora transfer on it. How odd!

Yes I noticed that and wondered how rare it would be as I've never seen one before.

Tohora on 3610 cup ... and now on a 4619 saucer Empty ... and the saucer to match

Tahora on a 4619 saucer (Air New Zealand DC8)

As I don't have an Air New Zealand cup and saucer, and really want to know what shape the saucer is (to confirm documentation for myself) I keep watching the auctions.

This one had me puzzled so I asked for another pic and seller obliged:

In the original photos it looked heavier than it should and sure enough instead of the expected 739 fine coupe saucer (or similar) I see the ubiquitous chunky 4619.

That dates this piece 1969 or later. I suppose this goes with the 3610 cup in the auction noted at start of topic. Together (complete with the Tahora design I mean) they could be a rare pairing, although not the Air NZ duo I would ideally want.

Later ...
Jackie from Christchurch trading as jacks54 has kindly allowed me to use their photos here. I have montaged them below. Thank you Jackie.

Unfortunately it appears that I did not keep a reference photo of the 3610 cup in Air NZ deco.
