Pottery purchased in Te Kauwhata 1978 - by Brian Gartside
My husband and I bought a full dinner set from a small shop in Te Kauwhata in 1978. The pieces have no makers mark but were definitely NZ made. Any ideas?

Hi Karen welcome to the forum!
This looks like a plate by Brian Gartside, a great potter, to see more examples of his work, check this link.

Possible Brian Gartside
I wondered for a long time if it was Gartside but I don't think it is. I have a few of his pieces and Brian always has some sort of mark or label on his work and his style is just a wee bit different to this I think.

You plate was familiar! I have one too..next to another plate I have marked Ramarama
I still think this maybe early Brian Gartside. What do others think?
You maybe able contact him to be totally certain.

I should probably clarify at this stage that the set I purchased consisted of 50 pieces - plates, bowls, casseroles, cups and saucers, gravy bowl meat platter - you get the picture. Didn't think Gartside did large sets.

I agree with Kat, that you should contact Brian to see if he made your set, as that is the style he used back then.
