Is it a 753?
The Sovereign backstamp is from the late 1950's and 1960's which makes the 700's about right.

oh that is a lovely piece, It would go real well with my sideplate hmmm all we need between us is the saucer for a lovely trio

753 looks like a close match

Looks like a 753 - my notes describe it as EW (earthenware?)

Yes EW stands for earthenware as opposed to high fired porcelain.
As it isn't a pure white I would say it is earthenware.
