Waipapa Potteries Lilian Jones Ltd Lily's Pots
I found this site by accident and found queries about Waipapa Potteries (AKA Lilian Jones LTD, Lily's Pots and Lily Jones, Studio Ceramics.
I AM Lily!!. I first called the pottery Lilian Jones Ltd many years ago. My designs became very much in demand and the tiny business grew. I changed the name to Lily's Pots where it continued to grow. I had ten painters and I did all the designing and trained the painters. I also trained them to glaze and fire the pieces.Later we also sprayed plain colored pieces as well as our established designs. We made tableware which sold throughout NZ. I couldn't do it all on my own so I found a business partner who became my marketing manager. We changed the business name to Waipapa Potteries and worked from a small workshop in Waipapa Kerikeri Northland. The business was very successful but also very labour intensive. My marketer wanted a change. We sold the business to Studio Ceramics in Auckland. I went to Studio Ceramics as a designer and my marketer, as marketer of my products for Studio Ceramics. I stayed there for two years before returning to Kerikeri where I worked for another ceramics company for several years. I am now retired and 77 years of age. Ceramics were very kind to me.
