Florida Pat.No.957 Syrem Ware
This is a brand name that isn't in Valerie Monks book, though I've seen it listed as Crown Lynn on TradeMe and it certainly looks and feels like Crown Lynn. As I found it on the Crown Lynn Database then it's a definite

and the backstamp..

According to the Crown Lynn records that I have this was made in the mid 1960's.

Hi Ev, I am Val Monk. I have been searching for more info on Syrem (where did that name come from? etc) and came across your posting of the Florida Syrem ware. This does look like a totally new mark. HOW many did those guys come up with??? Did you buy this item? If not do you know where it is? It certainly is interesting. Take care, ValM

Hi Val
We refer to your wonderful book constantly for reference. Thank you as it helps enormously. We have a few Crown Lynn backstamps that arn't in your book and a couple that I haven't put into the Backstamps Gallery yet, just waiting for confirmation of some kind.
There seem to be a few patterns that used the Syrem backstamp.
Ivy Leaf 979 http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t1445-ivy-leaf-pat-no-979?highlight=leaf and Teddy 770 ... see this link http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t1202-syrem-ware?highlight=syrem, another is Carnival 411 that a member listed recently.
Yes I will have that saucer amongst my stash somewhere ....
I hear that you are writing/researching again

Re: Florida Pat.No.957 Syrem Ware
Hey thanks for that. Yes... I am writing again. I had a few years away from Crown Lynn because I was consumed by a very intense drama with our family land - boundary challenge and legal action involving 3 govt departments, iwi, local community. It was very ugly but now resolved in a very sad way for us, the Govt bought the land. So now I have my head above that, I am doing a collectors guide, and at the moment am overwhelmed with info, gaps, questions, and the feeling that I will NEVER know enough! I am looking for a few things to buy and photopgraph, I am in Ak next week, wondering if I can call in and have a chat at last. Friday looks clearest for me. Are you around then? ValM

A Collectors Guide ... how interesting! I need a guide on how to stop collecting lolz.
Hmmmm I work Fridays so won't be home. I'm not a trader - just a collector for this site really, except for NZ studio pottery which I have been gathering for many years. Our charity shops have all of NZ's pottery history pass through them continuously, as does Trademe ....... I'm addicted to both!!
