In Melbourne there's a Nunawading Social Golf Club which started in 1955 - I think that's early enough to match the backstamp. On the club's web site some of the photos of trophies show an emblem of crossed golf clubs inside a laurel wreath but no initials.

Or it could be something else starting with N Social Golf Club or something entirely different.
