Re: Radio progamme 4 May 2011 about the Crown Lynn Museum project in New Lynn
How exciting, to hear that the building beside the old Ambrico [Gardner?] kiln in New Lynn will be transformed into a Crown Lynn Museum/Centre by the end of this year!
Re: Radio progamme 4 May 2011 about the Crown Lynn Museum project in New Lynn
I was gutted when I saw those horrible houses built around such a historic area I just hope the kiln will not have vandals getting in to it.

Perhaps you could keep us updated with any progress if it's that close to you Tim
Re: Radio progamme 4 May 2011 about the Crown Lynn Museum project in New Lynn
Even with the 6000 items there must be a ton more out there that the Museum will need to get their hands on. Am I right?

Re: Radio progamme 4 May 2011 about the Crown Lynn Museum project in New Lynn
I'd be interested to know how they came up with that 6000 figure - are they counting each shard? each sheet of records? The radio interview suggests they're now in a postion to build on Richard's collection and the Waitakere CC collection. They did buy that Shufflebotham cup - Did Art+Object auction it?
Maybe Tim and Marcus could turn up with buckets of fossicked material? Or old lampbases?
And does anyone know if Howard William's mob's collection will join in completing the original Quinn/Brickell dream?

Yes I think that cup must have been the one at A+O but from what I heard A+O didn't manage to sell it so perhaps it was some other post auction deal.
At this stage I believe the Ceramics Heritage collection is at a farm in a shed or something, I can't see it returning though.

A year or so ago I went along to the crown lynn appraisal thing in New Lynn. James from a+o was there along with Jim Drummond and James had the mug there he said It did not reach the reserve price but the Shufflebottom family wanted it to stay in NZ, I think the reserve was around 2500 so they may have raised the cash from the door charge on the day.

Could someone in Auckland who knows Howard please ask him what the plans are for the Ceramics Heritage collection?

I went to that Crown Lynn Roadshow signal red ...... maybe I saw you there?
I didn't see or hear anything about the loving cup .......
did see a multitude of awesome Crown Lynn though
Does anyone know what the Waitakere Council has in their pottery collection?
Studio?? Crown Lynn?? or whatever??
Tony, I believe all is at a standstill regarding the [Studio] Ceramics Heritage Trust ..
I'm sure that I will be informed when that collection finds a home

I talked to Howard about this and the museum idea is still on the cards, but the new super city has just made it alot harder.

Re: Radio progamme 4 May 2011 about the Crown Lynn Museum project in New Lynn
that seems a wasted opportunity - Crown Lynn produced so little of artistic merit that setting it in a studio pottery context could salvage it
