CL NZR Silver Star d623 for the gallery
These were used on the Silver Star , a luxury passenger train that ran overnight between Auckland and Wellington on the North Island Main Trunk railway of New Zealand. The train ran from Monday, 6 September 1971 until Sunday, 8 June 1979.
I can remember being served a pastry or similar snack on one of these dishes to eat with with a coffee.

The back stamp is very small about 20mm square and is unusually positioned at one corner rather the the centre as usually .

Re: CL NZR Silver Star d623 for the gallery
Thanks ever so much for the info Jonno and the pattern too
The Crown Lynn Museum notes have the pattern Silver Star d623 from that era,
so now we can match the name with the pattern

re Silver Star for the gallery
Have found an interesting variation on this d623 so had to buy it .
Same on first sight but turn it over and the back is glazed in the maroon colour used for the logo around the front edge. The BS is the same as before in black.
The colour is proving hard to get right is actually darker than photo.

Did they have a First Class on the Silver Star I wonder?
That's all I can think of just now for the different colour on the back.
