Re: Al Wheldale
This doesn't look like his distinctive style Kat and he isn't very old. His W is straighter whereas this one is cursive, so I'm not sure.
Al Wheldale update?
Hi I recently sold a vase on trademe by Al and the buyer is keen to know more about him. I remember someone online mentioned his connection to ASP, he’d studied in Japan and he did less pottery to focus on his turf/lawn or landscaping business? I can’t find any record of that info. Can anyone help?

Re: Al Wheldale
Hi Steve, it was Suzy Dunser who mentioned that he was now running a turf business.
I recall him winning an award at one of the Big Clay Out Days at Auckland Studio Potters, but haven't been able to find out what it was for.
Sorry that's all I know. Cheers

Google has Al Wheldale being presented with the Les and Sonia Andrews Award in 2005 and also winning First Prize in a category at ASP in 2008.

Re: Al Wheldale
Thanks Tony, I went into the ASP site and found that Al Wheldale won the Domesticware award in 2008 for a platter. There were photos.
I was there when he got his award from Sonia and Les Andrews in 2005, but still can't find what it was for. A prestigious award it was.
