Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Dsc05417
I sent a message to the seller on e-bay and voila! I can't get the photos to come out the right colour, a butter yellow with a hint of green, even though I took lots, but I guess that's not what is most important, so here is my new perfect 778 jug in different colours Embarassed
Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Dsc05418
I believe this is the true 778, and the other 2 jugs were made by Ambrico and would be older.
Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Dsc05419
This one has a different element inside too, suspended from the back
Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Dsc05420
Shown here with a baby swan, it is big and quite heavy, how they ever used it to boil water in I don't know, it would have been even heavier - they must have been housewives with bulging muscles :whistles:

This one is a different shape again, I didn't purchase it, but I got photos!
Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Dsc05719
This one is numbered 782, and has the same numbers PS 203 on the base, like the jug that Tarvster sent us http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t3470-crown-lynn-electric-jug#11280 so perhaps we should put these in the gallery also? sunny

I can only find the 778 Electric Jug Body in the records ....
782 is recorded as a cup and 785 isn't recorded.
These numbers began during Ambrico days and pieces with experimental glazes on them have numbers that correspond with the records.
I know Temuka made Electric Kettles but their shapes are distinctive -
did any other pottery make them too?
Can someone research this and get some definite info please ?
Not sure what to do .............. any ideas would be welcome.

My goodness, there is an Electric Jug Collectors group! {{Aussie}} I wonder who made the Ecolite then scratch http://electricjugs.ning.com/photo/ecolite-4-sale-on-ebay-ends-sat-30-jun-20-35-59-aest?context=user and a NZ Section, but because I'm not a member this is all I could find, except for a few more photos of NZ Jugs http://electricjugs.ning.com/main/search/search?q=new+zealand

Benhar also made some under contract for Temuka in the 1940s.

Yes, there are the Temuka too, and of course, as above in the link, even a Luke Adams. I can't find any info on Ecolite, apart from previous auctions. It is irking me that those bases are just so similar....

McSkimmings/Benhar made electric pottery jugs during the war years, though I can only find one photo -

The jugs on the middle shelf are all smooth in the body, and my Ambrico and 778 are both the same design. The other two are both different, even to each other, so maybe the PS 203 is the clue?

Talking about mysterious numbers on CL jugs from the 40s...

Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Cl_jug11

Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Cl_jug12

The bottom numbers are the date of production 5-December-1947, but what does "FA 5194" stand for?

This is turning into a very interesting topic, isn't it !
You may be right about the PS 203 sunny ......
Oh my word how fantastic to see the date your jug was made teaandcoffee !!!!!
What strange letters and numbers scratch I think the number is 5197.
Is it possible that your jug is Temuka? As soon as I saw the glaze I thought it was Temuka. Also it's the same shape as that link to the Antique Electric Jugs for Temuka Beelectrics ........ so much to think about.

I'm pretty sure this is a Crown Lynn jug from the fractionated era. The lid is exactly the same mould as the Ambrico ones earlier in this thread. The grey clay is also one they were using around this time and I would say the glaze is a typical CL blue drip/trickle one. You are right about the 5197.

So, it seems that all those jugs on the middle shelf are Beelectric, http://electricjugs.ning.com/photo/beelectric-electric-jug?context=latest this one has the sticker on it. There is an unknown maker one shown,  http://electricjugs.ning.com/photo/unknown-maker-made-in-new?context=latest a BNB (what does that stand for?? Mine was advertised as BNB) http://electricjugs.ning.com/photo/bnb-new-zealand?context=latest
I wish they would show the bases, that might help us! sunny

I have wondered that too. Our perc looks very much like Hon-John's.

It has the nice Crown Lynn colour glaze yellow. But the glaze is also very simular to our old yellow Temuka electric jug.

On the inside of the perc is a green slash. It has the same colour as the Titian/Aquila identification mark underneath vases etc.

There is a yellow 778 kettle with one day left to run on eBay.

If anyone wants it it'll be about $120 all-up once the postage is paid.

I have the 782 kettle, which I got off trademe from memory. Has a wee crack on the top but there's no element in there anymore. There's a socket behind the lid but I assume the plug/cord and element were removed...

Same yellow as well...

We are holding back on the 782 Dasiem, waiting for more confirmation.
Does yours have Crown Lynn on the base?
Is it the same as the 782 on page 2 of this thread?
I can see it in your first photos on the 'Show Us Your Shelves' topic, but it's very hard to see. Did you post it on the site somewhere when you got it? If not can you post a photo of the pot and base in this thread so that we can compare them please.

Crown Lynn / Russell Hobbs coffee perk? & Electric Jugs - Page 2 Empty Crown Lynn kettle marked 240 V 1500 W

Post  Jeremy Ashford Thu 29 Aug - 17:01

I have just received a Crown Lynn electric kettle (advertised as Temuka),
glazed in streaky lapis blue, body i/s and o/s, top o/s only, clear glaze on base.
It's shiny like brand new.

It appears to be a 778 but the only marking is:

240.V.
1500.W.

incised in the centre of the base.

Minor chip on inner rim and, 4mm firing crack at edge of fixing point on lid.
The inside appears to be intact.
I'm inclined to find a lead and fire it up!
(Fresh water does not conduct electricity.)

The only apparent difference I can see from photos of examples by mumof1
is that the little hole on the main body adjacent to the handle is to the right,
not the left.

Any ideas of age for this one?
