I went to the Mapua Easter Fair today, and had a great time looking for the elusive bargain, although there is little bric-a-brac these days, and more food and gimmicky type things. I did get talking to a couple of local potters though, who allowed me to take some photos to share.
This post is of the work by Russell Harding, who creates the most wonderful domestic wares, all with a kiwi influence. He hand paints every one himself also.

I like the car towing the caravan plate, but the others are great too.

He also uses images of NZ flora and fauna

These I really liked, such a talented artist

and the mark on his work.
Russell trained for 5 1/2 years with Royce McGlashen and Hugh MacMillan before establishing his own pottery 'The Right Mug' in 2006. He currently has an exhibition at the South Street Gallery in Nelson.

I totally agree.

I picked up a small mug in green and brown this morning.
It is as per one in Anne's photos:

just under 80mm H

I love those little fantails.

Later ...
I just had a look at Russell's work on the net and this mug is still part of his current range. It must be almost new.

Russell studied with Royce McGlashen and Hugh McMillan and trades as "The Right Mug". It was for me today.
