This is Stephen McCarthy's mark
Hello everyone!
Is anyone familiar with this pottery mark? It was attributed to Mirek Smisek, however I was unable to find any records to support that .Any thoughts?

I have the book Mirek Smisek 60 years 60 pots which has all of his marks and I don't see this mark anywhere. Nice salt glazed pot though. Cheers Ev

This may be Stephen McCarthy from Nelson. I can only find references to him online, nothing concrete, but this auction may help http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=826277865

Found a mug today with this mark, obviously an accomplished potter, are we going with Stephen McCarthy for this mark?

Hi Cat, there is no further info on this mark yet, so please keep a look out for any inkling of the maker.

Definitely him! A fine potter - was at Waikanae in the sixties and later moved to The S. I.. nelson region I believe. I bought a no. of pots from him.

Re: This is Stephen McCarthy's mark
Not sure if this is allowed here - but if anyone has anything by Steven McCarthy that they’d like to sell that’d be much appreciated. My grandmother has some wonderful mugs that she believes she bought from him directly in Timaru, but she’s 88 so it was a long time ago. Thanks
