but I do not recognize the potters mark

There is an auction at the moment 1087734967, where it was advised that this is Paul Laird, but the tea set above is not Paul's style http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1087734967 I think one should be cautious

Perhaps that trader is assuming that the mark looks like Paul's and it does have similarities, but it is different enough as you have picked up.
To me the decoration is very feminine, so I would be looking for a female potter.

Paul has confirmed that it is not his mark, he says 'The mark is close, but the decoration I would never do. Nicely made though, who's done this?'
