Hi Ev, Sorry the first was a negative for a New Zealand potter but I think its always best to know either way.I am no expert so going out on a limb here, but the image of a circle with a cross and four dots titled 'is this van Puttern' I believe may be a Dybka piece. If you search the discussions for Dybka on the flickr site you should come up with an asterisk topic for him. Colin:

Hi and thanks for that yowie.
I'm going to open this for our members to ponder on, as I'm not sure that the work is a match. The mark is very similar though.
Dybka mark - almost at the bottom of page 1 -

I saw another of Dybka's marks on the site somewhere that was applied like our mystery one on a 'button' of clay

I presume we actually mean Andrew Van der Putten?

If so I am clear that the marks in question are not his, have just checked on my teapot and on the photo of the mark that I posted quite some time ago.
