That's a girly fish for sure. Same style as Splashy.

by Tineke
A shorter mug with another, different, fish pic from Pacific Originals.
I have avoided these coloured slipware mugs for so long but I agree these are just so good.
flat bottom marked Pacific Originals
also marked on side "By Tineke"
Artwork by Tineke. There is a current tm auction for a coffee set by "Tineke". I have advised the seller that they are likely Sunnyvale Pottery. Marked "Tineke'94":

That date may add something to the Kermiko-Pacific-Originals-Sunnyvale story.

Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
Oh I thought that the Pacific Originals were Kermiko .....?
Though I think there is a cross over somewhere with another pottery ...?

Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
Val has a topic on the subject.
The stamps started out Kermiko Pacific Originals, then dropped the Kermiko, then the same shapes and artwork started appearing from Sunnyvale Pottery.
Tm seller wrote of a sun mark on the base of her set.
Here's Val's topic:

Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
Yes that's right, though I would consider the work Kermiko unless it said Sunnyvale.
Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
The conversation:
Are these marked "Pacific Originals" underneath? I have a mug in the same shape marked that way with "by Tineke" on the side. Jeremy.

A. Has Tineke on the side. The pottery dish ( see my other auction) has a sunburst and what looks like Sunrise pottery. 10:41 am, Sun 3 Apr
The other action:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/pottery-glass/porcelain-pottery/other-nz-manufacturers/auction-1060893954.htm
Trade me auction 1060893954
The dish in the second auction is the same design as the coffee set.
The Sunnyvale mark is a sunrise.
----
I just read Val's other post and I see Ken Martin was involved with Sunnyvale.
I must compare my Ken Martin to Sunnyvale.

Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
Ken Martin and Lee Fraser ran Sunnyvale.
Yes the link to the dish looks like their work to me.
So if it's the same pattern it must be Sunnyvale.
Is there a Pacific Ceramics Sunnyvale mark that I have missed?
Things like this are so hard to follow without links and photos.
Hand painters went from pottery to pottery and are very hard to keep track of.
Therefore it's the back stamps that tell the story.

Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
I'm buzzing from topic to topic!
I think I saw two Sunnyvale marks, both with sunrises.
One takes the form of the Pacific Originals mark without the words, and the other loosens up.
I'll carry on buzzing.

The first Sunnyvale stamp is based on the Pacific Originals ones, which are based on the Kermiko Pacific Originals.
---------
Later
I get the idea that the company principals changed at some point while some staff "transitioned" from one employer to another but I expect Val will work out the fine details eventually.
---------
9/4/16
Another auction listed with mugs by Tineke, same pattern as other one:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/pottery-glass/porcelain-pottery/other-nz-manufacturers/auction-1066158623.htm
Trade Me auction 1066158623
---------
12/4/16
Saw a baker shape at Hospice this AM, thought that pattern looks like a Tineke for PO/SvP and surprise or no surprise it had the Ken Martin mark, but no separate signage for the decorator. One conclusion is that the pattern is KM.
Must get a photo. Then I'll make a new reply.

Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
My thoughts are that the first two are by Kermiko and the third and fourth are from the Sunnyvale Pottery. There is no doubt about it. I added the last two stamps to the gallery even though they are all similar enough to identify which pottery they are.
Re: Pacific Originals Fishy Mug
Thanks to Larry Hagley who ran Pacific Originals posting some history of the pottery on Facebook, we now have a category for this work.
Larry took over Kermiko Potteries, Stewart Potteries and Sunnyvale Pottery and he used the names Kermiko Stoneware, Kermiko Ceramics and Pacific Originals.
I will add individual photos to the Pacific Originals Gallery when I get a chance of the pottery and the backstamps.
