who is GLENNIS??
Who IS Glennis?
I have no pics for this but I'm sure someone will.
Have a look at the biscuit jar in this listing:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/pottery-glass/auction-671703204.htm
Every op-shop seems to have a jam jar, honey jar, coffee jar etc with this wiggly lettering. Until now the only clue I had to a maker was that Jim said he thought it may be "someone from up north". That is, north of Whangarei.
I've pondered it in relation to Clay Craft items with raised letters but the style is wrong and the glazes are wrong.
"Glennis" is the first good lead.
I saw a box of "token" jars in the same, with various glazes
in yesterday's auction but did not leave a bid.
(It also had four Royal Oak mugs and a Putaruru vase.)
---------------
UPDATE 8/12
The box lot made it to Tikipunga market today, and after a previous sale of two token jars and my purchase of one of the mugs and the vase the buyer turned seller had recouped her $5! I'll post those items under their relevant topics.
I'm wondering now whether the token jars were yet a different maker, so I hope someone else will add them. I didn't buy any.
