Re: Willy and Joop Kuiper Mug
Fantastic Kat, as we don't have Willy Kuiper's mark.
If it had a J before the WK it would be Joop and Willie's mark.

Joop and Willy
Mug by Joop and Willy.
Joop and Willy Kuiper's mark is partly glazed over. Some other marks on the base: ???
73mm H
This one came from Kat & Co., second half of last year I think, but the mark is not in the gallery so Kat may not have got around to it.
A very nice mug.
Ev, I think your mustard pot is the JWK mark too.
I will try and take some better pics in the bright of day.

Re: Willy and Joop Kuiper Mug
Just wondering if you have the 'Marks of New Zealand Potters' book Jeremy?
It has around 1500 marks, though there are quite a few mistakes, so I think of it as a guide and not a bible.

No I don't have the book Ev. I've just been checking online where I can but you do need some clues for that to work easily. I'll have a look for the book. I did check JWK.
I still have many marks to check out but I certainly don't expect them all to be recorded.

Re: Willy and Joop Kuiper Mug
I've concluded that the mark at the end of the handle is not that of Andrew van der Putten, as it is too small for his mark, so must be for decoration only.

A message from Eric Kupier:
I would like to ask that all references to JWK pottery is that of Joop and Willy Kuiper and not Willie . My mothers name was Willy . Thank you
Thank you so much for this information Eric
So this is another error in the Marks of NZ Potters book, so please correct it for future reference

Pottery by Joop and Willy Kuiper
I can confirm that the x mark on the base of their cup , vase handles etc was a purely decorative mark and not of Andrew van der Putten. They have never collaborated with Andrew in any of their works.
There was also never an individual mark for Willy Kuiper or Joop Kuiper. Their mark was always JWK ... although sometimes the stamp did not always come out as clear as they would have liked.
I am happy to answer any questions in regards to information about my parents pottery.
warm regards
