Is this a Veteran or Vintage Car?
Came across two pattern names that made me think of Kat's mug ...
Veteran Cars d516 [I think I've seen about three different cars in this series ...?]
Vintage Car Q1000
My husband collected vintage car miniatures at one time, so my guess is the first pattern for this mug ....? Not sure though so please let me know your thoughts.

Hi Ev, pretty sure this is a veteran car pictured. That is the category for the oldest cars.

Re: Is this a Veteran or Vintage Car?
There's a set on trademe:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pottery-glass/auction-723846368.htm
My friend who builds old cars has explained the common parlance to me.
It does not strictly relate to the history of English monarchy.
Pre-1900 = Victorian
1900-1911= veteran
1911 - 1919 = Edwardian
1919 - end of 1930 = vintage
1931-> = modern!
As the dates for this set are 1886 - 1909 I'd call them veteran.

Re: Is this a Veteran or Vintage Car?
The Rolls Royce seems a wee bit different to the other 5 as they all have people in the scene and the script is different too ....? Makes me wonder if there are two sets of veteran cars .....?
Re: Is this a Veteran or Vintage Car?
Veteran Cars d516 - could be the Rolls Royce without the people as I have it on a 805 saucer and have seen photos of it on a 3020 Beaker cup. Also Dollcrown's Ascot version all suggest an earlier pattern.. basing that on .... Vintage Car Q1000 ( Q series being a later number?)
edits .. '1974' was the date that 3036 cup was first used
If I had to put a wager down ...that's how I would go LOL

Re: Is this a Veteran or Vintage Car?
The Rolls Royce is in the gallery as Veteran Cars d516 and yes I agree that it's a pattern name. The Q series are like a short special pattern run if you know what I mean.
Re: Is this a Veteran or Vintage Car?
This cup pattern is not Veteran Cars d516 as I just noticed that it's on the 3020 Beaker cup and the 805 saucer !! I will remove the photo in the Gallery and get back to this when I get time.
This is one of the Veteran Cars d516

Does anybody have one?
