Archlynn Ceramics Made In New Zealand
Another pottery that I had never heard of before.
I wonder if it is at all related to Crown Lynn and Morlynn ....?
This is incredibly small reaching only 4cm high.
It is beautifully made and is very sweet.
Does anyone know anything about this pottery?

Archlynn Miniatures
Hi all
I first bought some Archlynn thimbles back in 2002 from CraftWorld, Westgate to give away in Australia. The maker specialises in affordable miniatures, often souvenir items. If I remember correctly he and his dad started out in Kelston but then only the son was making them. They used the pure white clay from Matauri Bay. When I bought the first thimbles I got a flyer about them so I will go back through my old computer files and see if I have any more detail there. Now I wish I had kept the thimbles as the decals have a limited supply and shortly afterward, when I took up NZ thimble collecting myself, I could not get some of the native flowers any more.

Re: Archlynn miniatures
Hi again
I found the file I made to have more copies of the flyer for the gifts in 2002 and copy the wording below. There is no information about the maker on it but I have noticed there is an Archlynn Road in Kelston.
ARCHLYNN CERAMICS
From the far north of New Zealand comes the whitest clay in the world. This is a clay that produces the highest quality porcelain and bone china with outstanding strength and translucency. The unique and exceptionally white primary clay deposits mined at Matauri Bay are derived from acidic volcanic rocks originally laid down during New Zealand’s violent geological past.
Arch Lynn Ceramics, from Auckland, have found that it is an extremely versatile material – it is suitable for everything from delicate tabletop collections to exceptionally tough hotelware. The end result has been a clay that has gained an international reputation and is currently being exported to over twenty countries around the world.

Re: Archlynn Ceramics Made In New Zealand
Wonderful info indeed and gosh it sounds like all of the usual Crown Lynn blurbs. My guess is that these potters worked at Crown Lynn at an earlier time. I never thought to check out Street names. Brilliant.
Re: Archlynn Ceramics Made In New Zealand
I think you are right about the Crown Lynn connection - maybe with the Dad who taught the son etc. Not that brilliant as it just happened to pop up on a particular google search today ;-) Ties in with the info I remember that they lived in Kelston. I got nothing when I went to the products section of CraftWorld website today so maybe it is no longer being made? Anyone nearby to check it out?

Re: Archlynn Ceramics Made In New Zealand
I would expect Archlynn to be a portmanteau location being a combination of Arch Hill and Grey Lynn.

Re: Archlynn Ceramics Made In New Zealand
Thanks for the feedback. The apple one may be a souvenir with West Auckland written on verso (I have this as I lived in West Auckland at the time of purchase). The tui is a handsome decal and one I would love to add to my native bird collection.
When I am able to post pictures next week I will put up some examples from my thimbles showing the various shapes and years of purchase. The early ones do not have marks so the pictures may be helpful for someone trying to identify them. My last purchase from CraftWorld was in June 2007.

Re: Archlynn Ceramics Made In New Zealand
Here is a little Archlynn duck - this was also brought in to the pottery ID session that Ev and I took part in. Again, to my shame I can't remember who brought it in.

Re: Archlynn Ceramics Made In New Zealand
Thanks squeaking, I have liked the page you mentioned, but cannot find the search option that is usually available on group pages.
You can send a link to newzealandpottery@gmail.com and I will post it for you.
I'm really keen to see more info
