A listing for a pattern called Islam D577

I checked out the number 577 on the Database and found it with the name Islam which seems to fit this pattern.
So many questions.... why? .. for whom?... when? and what do those Islamic words mean?

I google translated those foreign words it is Malay and says 'Done for Felda by'.
I think they are a large malaysian Corp. check this link..

Its has the same Border pattern as the heritage pattern but green.
Interesting plate !

I've got a thing for green at the moment too  and was stoked that its on Coupe as I was expecting Forma shape.

I've added all of those foreign words to the pattern name in case someone is looking for them.

This plate is bigger than all my others? Its big 26.4cmD & quite thin..coupe shape.  
Does anyone else have this size plate? Ive looked at Ponui & palmsprings but it doesnt fit with them either.

This is fascinating. CL did export to other countries, including Malaysia, as we know.  Looks like it was commissioned by Felda - the Malaysian Federal Land Development Authority, which appears to be a very large Govt department.  This plate does look as though it was made in Auckland rather than the Philippines, doesn't it?

Yep Im sure its made in NZ but it is an unusual size, still havnt found another Coupe plate this big, this pic is with Ponui to show different size to base rim rings. 14cm on Ponui. 17.5 on Islam plate..its shallower than the Ponui, so they dont stack together well.
Does anyone have another plate like this?

Jim had a similar plate in his collection its the same size/shape as this Duet Pattern plate.

I have a Duet Price List and it has a Dinner Plate 4066 in the Classique Shape 10 1/4" or 260cm first made 29.7.82.

Its all very exciting, soo.. Devaz was a 'Party Plan' Company!
Also It makes sense that they are wall plaques as all that Gold would wear quickly.

My husband is working with a guy who is Arabic so I asked if he could shed some light on what the meaning of the plate translated to.
He was a little hard to understand but apparently its "bismillah" or "Basmala" ( same thing)
If you google the word, then look at the images. He said this is an artists impression of bismillah - which I took to mean it was emphasised to look pretty

He also said its something you put on a sword or above your house but NEVER a tattoo !
It translates to "in the name of Allah (the true God)"

Also for those "Queen" lovers in the song Bohemian Rhapsody, he used those words and other Islamic ones too.

Found both of these yesterday.

White porcelain dinner plate with pure gold onglaze Arabic central decoration and band on rim. The plate says 'In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the Merciful / Allah / God

however the Green plate is little harder to find. I have been told by Ev this was the first run and an error as the pattern was the wrong way around. Very weird and unusual.

For some reason I think it was the gold one that was put on the wrong way around. It was called a plaque and they had to redo the whole order :O
