Crown Lynn Kiwis - 156 and 165
We have a record of a kiwi in our animals department with the number 156 clearly marked on the base..there is one on trademe at the moment and the owner states it is clearly marked 165. I have two kiwis and they are both un-numbered BUT on looking at them though they appear the same, they are different in size.. what do you think?? The smaller brown trickleglaze is the one in our notes at 4 and a half inches long..

Re: Crown Lynn Kiwis - 156 and 165
I am sure the early "running" glaze Kiwis and Swans are smaller than the later painted ones, and more robust? Does that make them two different shapes?.............. the same but different. The running glaze ones don't have shape numbers as such, or do they?

The coloured one is;..... base is 130mm long, at furthest points, about 115mm tall, and approx. 80mm across base. I'm bidding on a white one on ebay that is a 165

What colour is your one Zana? Is it old enough to have fraction marks? Manos explained tome that when moulds started to wear out they would make a new one from the old one, and hence the new one would be bigger. That reinforces what you said about early ones being smaller.

The kiwis with KIWI on the base like yours, weren't they made for overseas? I've seen one on ebay america in the past.

I think Tony said the same thing...do you think the different number only related to what was written on the base?? No, it is in the museum notes as afour and a half inch long kiwi 156. (there is no 165mentioned) Is your kiwi numbered 165, a coloured one or a running glaze one? Is it like the one on trademe at present?
