My little black urn vase that I just sold recently had a number on the base and though I cant make this one out clearly - it looks raised, just as mine was. I think it could be Sylvac..but not certain. Cant rule out Crown Lynn as I dont know what a 509 looks like but if the numbers are raised, dont think that is Crown Lynn style. Here is a pic of the base of mine for comparison.

Hi, the numbers aren't raised ... they are inscribed into the pot and then glazed over.

Then the jury is still out. It may be Crown Lynn..by a process of elimination we may narrow the options...

I will search UK e-bay and see if there is something there..Crown Devon is another thought...

And the one thought I didnt have and should have, was Shorter and Son from England.

228174721 is a trademe auction for a black vase, different shape, but has the same sequence of numbers as Crown Lynn.

So- in short - (pardon the pun) I am not discounting it as Crown Lynn but in the absence of proof a process of elimination could answer the questions and I think we need to look at Shorter.

I have sent another example to Ev so will retrieve that number too.

Today on eBay I saw 160346028033 a Raynham vase with a sticker dated mid to late 1960s with a similar shape to this one. Casey Ware and Mingay Art Ware also made a similar shape.
